Christmas Highlights

Hot Meals

The sad reality is many will be celebrating Christmas alone. Many also can’t make it out to community Christmas Lunches. So, this time Vinnies decided to cook a Christmas meal and deliver it to those needing it. They sourced the food and asked for the use of the City Mission kitchen. Thank you, ACM. They asked for helpers and the amazing Hunt family crew volunteered to cook the Christmas meals to be delivered to families. So much aroha and awhi. A massive thank you to all the volunteers and helpers, that continuously ensure that our most vulnerable in the community don’t go without this Christmas.

Foodbank

As the festive season kicked in, so did the demand for food parcels. Currently, the Vinnies Foodbank at Gundry supports 1000 families per week. This includes children, youth and parents of those who come to the foodbank in order to receive help to ensure that they have a Christmas this year. Over the past couple of Months the donations for our Christmas parcels have been ongoing, and on behalf of the St Vincent De Paul team here we would like to thank the many generous donors. This has ensured that families who endured a lot through COVID were not going without this Christmas season.

Presents

Every year the Society of St Vincent De Paul puts out a call out into the community for donations of presents for Christmas. As expected when we reach out they come in numbers. This year we received multiple donations from everywhere, which we are truly grateful for. These gifts go to parents to give to their children on Christmas, at Vinnies we ensure to uphold the integrity of the families who need our services, this includes covering things such as Christmas gifts and and food parcels to help families during peak times like Christmas.
